Day 4 in Berlin

Segunda-feira! Dia de regresso ao trabalho! Regressámos aos post sobre a viagem a Berlim e conforme prometido cá fica o 4º dia de visita. Neste dia optámos por ir visitar a cúpula do Reichstag, o Parlamento Alemão símbolo da história da Alemanha. Uma visita a não perder em Berlim!

Monday! back to work day! As promised here is the 4th day from my visit to Berlin. On this day we chose to visit the dome of the Reichstag, the German Parliament symbol of German history. A visit not to be missed in Berlin!

A vista sob a cidade é soberba. A entrada é gratuita mas devem fazer a reserva com antecedência pela internet ou agendando uma data no local. Nós tivemos 1h20 na fila!! O ideal é ir de manhã cedo e evitar os fins-de-semana.

The view is superb above the city. Admission is free but must make a reservation in advance online or scheduling a date on the spot. We got in line 1h20m!! The ideal is to go early in the morning and avoid the weekends.

Fomos depois almoçar a uma pizzaria óptima no restaurante Vapiano na avenida para a Brandenburger Tor, um local com ambiente fantástico com um self-service entre massas, pizzas, salgados e bebidas frescas.

Then we went to lunch at a pizzeria - Vapiano restaurant on the avenue to the Brandenburger Tor - a place with fantastic environment with a self-service that you can choose from pasta, pizza, snacks and refreshments.

Seguimos para o metro e passámos pelo complexo Bernhard Winking uma bela interpretação moderna da arquitectura neoclássica, parcialmente escondida a norte da Brandenburger Tor, que vos falei neste post. No seu interior há um café, um restaurante e uma loja de recordações em volta de um pátio resguardado do sol. Aproveitei para aqui comprar o íman para o frigorifico cá de casa (adoro coleccionar, embora não tenha comprado em todas as viagens).

We headed to the metro and went through the complex Bernhard Winking a beautiful modern interpretation of Neoclassical architecture, partially hidden north of the Brandenburger Tor. Inside there is a cafe, a restaurant and a gift shop around a courtyard sheltered from the sun. I buy there the magnet for the fridge (although I love collecting has not bought into all trips).

Fomos depois para Kurfurstendamm, observar as Ruínas da Torre. Durante a II Guerra Mundial, que arrasou grande parte de Berlim, somente a torre da Igreja memorial escapou à destruição. Inicialmente possuía 113m de altura, mas hoje tem apenas 63m. O buraco no topo da torre tem arestas aguçadas (daí a alcunha de "dente furado"). Infelizmente não conseguimos observar em pleno as ruínas pois as mesmas estavam em recuperação e portanto tapadas, como podem ver na foto.

Then we went to Kurfurstendamm, observe the ruins of the Tower. During World War II, which destroyed much of Berlin, only the tower of the Church memorial escaped destruction. Initially had 113m tall, but today has only 63m. The hole in the top of the tower has sharp edges (the nickname is"Tooth bored"). Unfortunately we could not observe in full the ruins as they were in recovery and therefore covered up, as you can see in the photo.

Fomos depois para a Deutscher Dom, observar as cúpulas e a melhor loja para comprar chocolates Fassbender & Rausch. Aqui podem ver o formato das Ruínas da Torre, mas em chocolate.

Next we went to the Deutscher Dom, observe the domes and the best store to buy chocolates Fassbender & Rausch. Here you can see the shape of the ruins of the Tower, but in chocolate.

Seguimos depois para as Galerias Lafayette, uma loja mais atractiva de Berlim, com peças luxuosas, que apesar de não as poder comprar é adorável ver ao vivo algumas das colecções que apenas vimos na Internet. Peças bastante caras e lindíssimas que qualquer apaixonado por moda adora ver. 

We went then to the Galleries Lafayette, with fantastic luxurious pieces, which despite not being able to buy are fantastic to see. Apart being very expensive and beautiful anyone that love fashion like to see the collections on this galleries.

Na última noite em Berlim decidimos ir a um dos melhores bares da cidade: Newton logo depois de jantarmos no restaurante Maredo (óptima carne). Quanto ao bar Newton, é um dos bares mais em voga em Berlim e as poltronas em pele são muito agradáveis. Quando sentados, podemos observar mais atentamente as fotografias de Helmut Newton enquanto tomávamos um cocktail. Foi uma noite muito agradável. Se forem a Berlim têm mesmo que visitar este bar.

On our last night in Berlin we decided to go to one of the best bars in town: Newton. This is one of the trendiest bars in Berlin and the leather armchairs are very nice. When seated, we look more closely at the photographs of Helmut Newton as we drank a cocktail. It was a very pleasant evening. If you go to Berlin you must visit the Newton Bar.

No dia seguinte regressámos ao aeroporto para voarmos até Copenhaga. 

The next day we returned to the airport to fly to Copenhagen.

Sábado! Uma pausa nos post's da viagem a Berlim, para vos mostrar uma das minhas últimas aquisições, a t-shirt "YSL" da Blancdeblanc, uma marca portuguesa que vende t-shirts com estampados inspirados em logotipos de indústrias de moda e frases relacionadas. Adoro este tipo de t-shirts de algodão com estampados, uma peça bastante versátil para diferentes looks.

Saturday! A pause in the post's from the trip to Berlin, to show you one of my latest acquisitions, the t-shirt "YSL" Blancdeblanc a Portuguese brand that sells t-shirts with printed logos inspired fashion industries and related phrases. I love this kind of t-shirts with patterned cotton, one piece versatile for different looks.

3rd day in Berlin

Bom dia e boa sexta-feira! Hoje mostro-vos o 3º dia da viagem a Berlim na passada semana, espero que gostem!?

Começámos a manhã pelo Brandenburger Tor, saímos de eléctrico e apanhámos depois o metro. Nesta praça Pariser Platz encontra-se o símbolo mais famoso de Berlim que contrasta com as embaixadas ultramodernas que o rodeiam. 

Good Friday! Today I show you the 3rd day of the trip to Berlin last week, hope you enjoy!?

We started the morning at Brandenburger Tor, we took the tram and then the metro. 

In Pariser Platz square it's located the most famous symbol of Berlin, which contrasts with the ultramodern embassies around.

Bem perto fica o memorial às vítimas do muro de Berlim, aproveitámos para visitar as redondezas do Parlamento alemão, aproveitámos para fazer várias fotografias e vídeos e almoçámos por lá.

Nearby is the memorial to victims of the Berlin wall, I took advantage to visit the surrounding's and take a loot of photos and videos that I show you in another post. We had lunch near the German Parliament.

Seguimos depois para Siegessaule, onde fica a coluna da Vitória em Tiergarten, um marco da cidade com 62m de altura construída para comemorar a vitória da Prússia sobre a Dinamarca em em 1864. 

Then we went to Siegessaule, where is the Victory Column in Tiergarten, which is a city landmark with 62m in height built to commemorate the Prussian victory over Denmark in 1864.

De bus, seguimos até a Potsdamer Platz, o centro da nova Berlim segundo dizem. É aqui que se localizam os cinemas, lojas e restaurantes, um local rodeado de imponentes edifícios. Nesta zona aproveitei para ir ao Dunkin Donuts um café que tem donuts maravilhosos (sou fã desde que fui a Nova Iorque). Nesta área ainda é possível verificar pedaços do muro, que estão um pouco espalhados por toda a cidade.

Then we take the bus to the Potsdamer Platz, the center of the new Berlin as they say. It's here that are located cinemas, shops and restaurants, a place surrounded by huge buildings. In this area I took the opportunity to go to Dunkin Donuts, that have wonderful and delicious donuts (i'm a huge fan since I went to New York). In this area it's still possible to see pieces of the Berlin wall, which are throughout the city.

Logo depois fomos até à "Topographie des terrors", uma zona que foi anteriormente uma Escola de Belas Artes, ocupada depois pela sede da Gestapo e das SS. É literalmente um museu ao ar livre e gratuito que mostra a história detalhada sobre o nazismo e a forma como os nazis assumiram o controlo sobre a sociedade. As exposições externas debruçam-se sobre Hitler, o seu partido e os controlos sobre a sociedade alemã. As exposições no interior fornecer detalhes do controlo pelo estado durante a guerra na Alemanha e nos países derrotados por Hitler. As histórias pessoais incluídas mostram como algumas pessoas tinham tentado enfrentar o Estado e o que as consequências que tiveram. 

Adorei a exposição, que nos faz compreender como é importante para todos os cidadãos participar na vida política do seu país.

Then we went to "Topographie des Terrors", literally a free outdoor museum that shows the detailed story about the rise of Nazism and how the Nazis took control over society. The external exposure  Hitler and his controls on German society. The exhibits inside provide details of control by the state during the war in Germany and the countries defeated by Hitler. The personal stories included how some people had tried to confront the state and what the consequences were. I loved this exposure, that makes us realize how important it is for all citizens to participate in political life of their country.

O balão de ar quente, da imagem abaixo, está logo à saída desta exposição e é visível de vários pontos da cidade, com o nome do jornal "Die Welt". Não experimentei, mas vi que eram 19€ por pessoa para 15 minutos.

The hot air balloon in the image below is just outside this exhibition and is visible from several spots of the city, with the name of the newspaper "Die Welt". Not tried it, but saw that there were 19 € per person for 15 minutes.

Seguimos depois a pé para Checkpoint Charlie, um posto militar entre a Alemanha Ocidental e a Alemanha Oriental durante a guerra fria. Um local de passagem de estrangeiros e membros das forças aliadas. Existe um museu nesta zona que relata os eventos passados no muro de Berlim e dos vários meios de fuga.

Then we went to Checkpoint Charlie, a military post between West Germany and East Germany during the Cold War. A place of passage of foreigners and members of allied forces. There is a museum in the area that relates past events in the Berlin Wall and the various means of escape.

Finalizámos o dia pelo Museu "Kommunikation", mas como já estava fechado à hora que lá chegámos ficámos apenas a observar a sua arquitectura. Trata-se do maior museu dos correios do mundo inaugurado em 1872.

Finalized the day at the Museum "Kommunikation" but was already closed at the time that we got there we so we were just observing its architecture. It is the largest postal museum in the world opened in 1872.

Mais uma vez o look escolhido foi jeans t-shirt e casaco. Para alegrar o look juntei os dois colares dourados e 2 pulseiras em pele e tachas douradas. Estava mais frio por Berlim do que pensava, pelo que houve alguns ajustes de última hora. Estou rendida aos tenis com compensado que levei, pelo que foi a minha escolha na maior parte dos dias de viagem.

Again the look that was chosen was: jeans, t-shirt and jacket.  To bright up the look I joined the two golden necklaces that I love and two bracelets in leather. It was colder than I thought in the time that I was in Berlin, so there was a last's minutes adjustments. I'm surrendered to the new Zara tennis that I took, so that was my choice on most days of travel.
