3rd day in Berlin

Bom dia e boa sexta-feira! Hoje mostro-vos o 3º dia da viagem a Berlim na passada semana, espero que gostem!?

Começámos a manhã pelo Brandenburger Tor, saímos de eléctrico e apanhámos depois o metro. Nesta praça Pariser Platz encontra-se o símbolo mais famoso de Berlim que contrasta com as embaixadas ultramodernas que o rodeiam. 

Good Friday! Today I show you the 3rd day of the trip to Berlin last week, hope you enjoy!?

We started the morning at Brandenburger Tor, we took the tram and then the metro. 

In Pariser Platz square it's located the most famous symbol of Berlin, which contrasts with the ultramodern embassies around.

Bem perto fica o memorial às vítimas do muro de Berlim, aproveitámos para visitar as redondezas do Parlamento alemão, aproveitámos para fazer várias fotografias e vídeos e almoçámos por lá.

Nearby is the memorial to victims of the Berlin wall, I took advantage to visit the surrounding's and take a loot of photos and videos that I show you in another post. We had lunch near the German Parliament.

Seguimos depois para Siegessaule, onde fica a coluna da Vitória em Tiergarten, um marco da cidade com 62m de altura construída para comemorar a vitória da Prússia sobre a Dinamarca em em 1864. 

Then we went to Siegessaule, where is the Victory Column in Tiergarten, which is a city landmark with 62m in height built to commemorate the Prussian victory over Denmark in 1864.

De bus, seguimos até a Potsdamer Platz, o centro da nova Berlim segundo dizem. É aqui que se localizam os cinemas, lojas e restaurantes, um local rodeado de imponentes edifícios. Nesta zona aproveitei para ir ao Dunkin Donuts um café que tem donuts maravilhosos (sou fã desde que fui a Nova Iorque). Nesta área ainda é possível verificar pedaços do muro, que estão um pouco espalhados por toda a cidade.

Then we take the bus to the Potsdamer Platz, the center of the new Berlin as they say. It's here that are located cinemas, shops and restaurants, a place surrounded by huge buildings. In this area I took the opportunity to go to Dunkin Donuts, that have wonderful and delicious donuts (i'm a huge fan since I went to New York). In this area it's still possible to see pieces of the Berlin wall, which are throughout the city.

Logo depois fomos até à "Topographie des terrors", uma zona que foi anteriormente uma Escola de Belas Artes, ocupada depois pela sede da Gestapo e das SS. É literalmente um museu ao ar livre e gratuito que mostra a história detalhada sobre o nazismo e a forma como os nazis assumiram o controlo sobre a sociedade. As exposições externas debruçam-se sobre Hitler, o seu partido e os controlos sobre a sociedade alemã. As exposições no interior fornecer detalhes do controlo pelo estado durante a guerra na Alemanha e nos países derrotados por Hitler. As histórias pessoais incluídas mostram como algumas pessoas tinham tentado enfrentar o Estado e o que as consequências que tiveram. 

Adorei a exposição, que nos faz compreender como é importante para todos os cidadãos participar na vida política do seu país.

Then we went to "Topographie des Terrors", literally a free outdoor museum that shows the detailed story about the rise of Nazism and how the Nazis took control over society. The external exposure  Hitler and his controls on German society. The exhibits inside provide details of control by the state during the war in Germany and the countries defeated by Hitler. The personal stories included how some people had tried to confront the state and what the consequences were. I loved this exposure, that makes us realize how important it is for all citizens to participate in political life of their country.

O balão de ar quente, da imagem abaixo, está logo à saída desta exposição e é visível de vários pontos da cidade, com o nome do jornal "Die Welt". Não experimentei, mas vi que eram 19€ por pessoa para 15 minutos.

The hot air balloon in the image below is just outside this exhibition and is visible from several spots of the city, with the name of the newspaper "Die Welt". Not tried it, but saw that there were 19 € per person for 15 minutes.

Seguimos depois a pé para Checkpoint Charlie, um posto militar entre a Alemanha Ocidental e a Alemanha Oriental durante a guerra fria. Um local de passagem de estrangeiros e membros das forças aliadas. Existe um museu nesta zona que relata os eventos passados no muro de Berlim e dos vários meios de fuga.

Then we went to Checkpoint Charlie, a military post between West Germany and East Germany during the Cold War. A place of passage of foreigners and members of allied forces. There is a museum in the area that relates past events in the Berlin Wall and the various means of escape.

Finalizámos o dia pelo Museu "Kommunikation", mas como já estava fechado à hora que lá chegámos ficámos apenas a observar a sua arquitectura. Trata-se do maior museu dos correios do mundo inaugurado em 1872.

Finalized the day at the Museum "Kommunikation" but was already closed at the time that we got there we so we were just observing its architecture. It is the largest postal museum in the world opened in 1872.

Mais uma vez o look escolhido foi jeans t-shirt e casaco. Para alegrar o look juntei os dois colares dourados e 2 pulseiras em pele e tachas douradas. Estava mais frio por Berlim do que pensava, pelo que houve alguns ajustes de última hora. Estou rendida aos tenis com compensado que levei, pelo que foi a minha escolha na maior parte dos dias de viagem.

Again the look that was chosen was: jeans, t-shirt and jacket.  To bright up the look I joined the two golden necklaces that I love and two bracelets in leather. It was colder than I thought in the time that I was in Berlin, so there was a last's minutes adjustments. I'm surrendered to the new Zara tennis that I took, so that was my choice on most days of travel.

1st and 2nd day in Berlin

A viagem a Berlim correu muito bem e tenho muito para partilhar convosco. Irei começar por mostrar-vos um pouco dos dois primeiros dias, depois num outro post os outros dois e de seguida o video. Espero que gostem!

The Berlin trip went very well and I have so much to share with you. I'll start by showing you a little of the first two days, then in another post I show the other two days and then the video. Hope you enjoy!

A melhor forma de chegar ao centro de Berlim é apanhando o comboio que está junto ao Aeroporto. Como o nosso hotel ficava ligeiramente afastado do centro, apanhámos o eléctrico (5 minutos e já lá estávamos). 

The best way to get to the center of Berlin is to take the train which is close to the airport. As our hotel was slightly off the center of the city, we took the tram (5m).

Aproveitámos para conhecer as redondezas e jantar no restaurante em frente ao hotel onde ficámos: Lanternchen.

We get to know the surroundings and dinner at the restaurant across from the hotel where we stayed: Lanternchen.

No segundo dia fomos até ao centro depois de um bom pequeno-almoço perto do hotel, partimos de Albertinen Str para Greifswalder Str e depois noutro eléctrico para Alexandrerplatz, uma das praças mais antigas e conhecidas da cidade.

On the second day we went to the center after a good breakfast near the hotel, we left for Greifswalder Str, from were we were: Albertinen Str. Then we get another tram to Alexandrerplatz, one of the oldest and best known parks in the city.

Aqui podemos também observar a Berliner Fernsehturm (torre de televisão) com 36m de altura, que é o edifício mais alto da cidade.

Here we can also observe the Fernsehturm (television tower) with 36m high, is the tallest building in the city.

Bem perto está a Berliner Rathaus (Câmara Municipal de Berlim), toda construída em tigolos vermelhos, um edifício enorme.

Near is the Berliner Rathaus (town hall of Berlin), all built in red tigolos, a huge and impressive building.

No meio da praça e entre várias linhas de eléctricos, observámos o Weltzeituhr (Relógio das horas do Mundo).

In the middle of the square and among several tram lines, we can observed the Weltzeituhr (An World Clock).

Cortando à direita fomos até à fonte de Neptuno, uma fonte verde neobarroca de 1895 que representa Neptuno, o deus dos mares, rodeado de 4 figuras femininas que simbolizam Reno, Weichsel, Oder e Elb.

On our right we went to the fountain of Neptune, a green neobaroque fountain of 1895 which represents Neptune, the god of the sea, surrounded by four female figures symbolizing Reno, Weichsel, Oder and Elb.

Nesta praça apanhámos o bus turístico (que adoro fazer sempre que tenho oportunidade). De manhã passámos por: Kufurstendamm, KaDewe, Postadamer Platz, Maverreste, Chekpoint Charlie (que mostrarei amanhã), Gendarmenmarkt, Muhlendamm, Alexanderplatz, Rotes Rathaus, Neptunbrunnen, Lustgarten (zona dos museus), Bandenburger Tor (que amanhã também mostrarei no blog), Hauptbahnhof e Siegessaule GroBer Stern.

Depois desta visita que nos deu uma ideia dos principais locais a visitar, fomos almoçar a um restaurante japonês no centro comercial de Alexanderplatz, uma opção bem mais económica.

In this square we took the bus tour (I love to do whenever I get the chance). In the morning we went through: Kufürstendamm, KaDeWe, Postadamer Platz, Maverreste, Chekpoint Charlie (I will show you tomorrow), Gendarmenmarkt, Mühlendamm, Alexanderplatz, Rotes Rathaus, Neptunbrunnen, Lustgarten (Museum Mile), Bandenburger Tor (which also I will show you tomorrow on the blog), Hauptbahnhof and Siegessaule Grober Stern.

After this visit, that gave us an idea of the main places to visit, we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant in downtown Alexanderplatz, an economical option in that area.

Later in the afternoon we went to tour B: Maver & Kier.

Foram vários os locais que passámos, mas o que chamou mais a nossa atenção foi a KrausnickstraBe, uma sinagoga muito bonita, Karl Marx Alle e o East Side Gallery, onde saímos.

There were several places we went through, but what caught our attention the most was the KrausnickstraBe, a very beautiful synagogue, Karl Marx Alle and the East Side Gallery, where we went.

Este fragmento do muro de Berlim com 1,3km de extensão foi abandonado e em 1990, 118 artistas de todo o Mundo pintaram nele figuras coloridas, tornando-o numa obra de arte única e que proporciona fotografias bem divertidas. A figura mais famosa é a do artista russo Dmitri Vrubel que ilustra Leonid Brezhnev e o líder da Alemanha de Leste Erich Honecker a trocarem um beijo socialista muito fraterno. 

This fragment of the Berlin Wall with 1.3 km long, was abandoned in 1990, 118 artists from around the world painted color pictures in it, making it a unique work of art that provides quite fun photographs. The most famous figure is from a Russian artist Dmitri Vrubel that shows Leonid Brezhnev and East German leader Erich Honecker in a very fraternal socialist kiss. 

Regressámos depois de eléctrico para o hotel e acabámos por jantar no mesmo restaurante do dia anterior Lanternchen. Para além da comida ser óptima, o ambiente e o atendimento era extremamente agradável.

We returned after a walk in this area by tram to the hotel and we ended up dining at the same restaurant in the previous day - Lanternchen. This restaurant have great food, nice ambience and the  service was extremely pleasant.

Estou de regresso a Lisboa e as férias por Berlim e Copenhaga foram o máximo. 

Enquanto preparo os próximos post's sobre ambas as viagens, deixo-vos algumas fotos da semana passada com um look onde o bordeaux, o print e o vermelho são os principais intervenientes. Adoro este mix e vocês?
